Internship Program 2020

Gracefield Christian Camp and Retreat Centre will be running a 4-week internship program from July 5th to July 31st, 2020. Our Leader in Training Director Anna Heath aka Goldfinch will be heading this internship for youth ages 16 to 18.

Interns will be volunteering 4+ hours a day in various different roles at camp including maintenance, housekeeping, guest services and in the kitchen. These 96+ hours can also go towards the completion of interns High School Diploma. Interns will learn valuable skills while also contributing to the running of the camp.

The remainder of the day will be used as staff development to further the skills of the interns to increase their abilities as a camp staff member. The development will be designed to train interns to be a future Gracefield Camp staff member. This development training will be centred on aspects relating to the program, as interns will receive a great deal of experience in other sectors during their volunteer time. The staff development will also include a bible study to foster the faith of our staff/volunteers.

Interns will be given free room and board. This is an incredible opportunity that could not be possible without the help of our donors. Especially due to Covid-19 and the inability to run camp programs GCCRC is incredibly thankful for those who give. Help Gracefield Camp this summer and donate on our website through PayPal Givings Fund Canada or through our page.

If you are interested in this internship, please email for the application form due June 21st at 11:59 pm.

Leader in Training

It is with a heavy heart that Gracefield Christian Camp & Conference Centre will not be operating a Leader in Training residential camp this summer. A full update regarding this decision is available here. If you have already registered a camper for camp this summer, we will be in contact with you shortly. Below is the description of our Leader in Training program. We hope to be able to provide a Leader In Training program like this next summer.

The Leader-in-training program is an intensive 200-hour course spread over four weeks including a multi-day canoe trip and an internship on site at Gracefield Camp.  The course is a program of the Association des Camps du Quebec that covers a wide spectrum of leadership skill training which Gracefield augments with Christian camping content, worship and Bible study. Leaders-in-training receive instruction in: safety and risk management at camp; child development and leadership styles; camp skill development; games, archery, land navigation including outdoor living skills, hiking, swimming, Bible study, worship leadership, drama, music and ropes course; First Aid training,  wilderness practice scenarios  and canoe skill training through the Ontario Recreational Canoe and Kayak Association(ORCKA) program.

The LIT program contributes to the development of team building and out-tripping skills during the off-site multi-day canoe trip, internship with campers on-site covering all parts of camp from maintenance, to counselling, to kitchen, to administration. The LIT program is ideal youth looking for experiencing working with children, planning on becoming a lifeguard, or looking to bring their wilderness expertise up to the next level. The LIT program is a stepping stone to many opportunities in the world of camp and beyond.

In addition to the registration, the LIT program will involve an application process, interview and references.

Bus transportation to and from Gracefield is also available.
